BetOpenly X OddsJam - NFL Week 8

OddsJam | BetOpenly’s NFL Picks of The Week

My Degens, My Degens,

We are here in week 8 of the NFL season. The run of the favorites continued last week. In the Super Bowl rematch, the Chiefs beat the Niners with ease. We started off week 8 with a dog covering in the Rams. Many were surprised by this outcome, but a lot pointed to the Rams winning this game. Teams who have played the Detroit Lions in the prior week are now 0-5 ATS and SU. The Rams were playing their third home game in a row without covering the first two. This was also a short week with travel across the country for the Vikings. What dogs are barking this Sunday? This week, we will take a look at the Colts/Texans and Cowboys/49ers games.

Colts vs Texans
1:00 p.m. EST CBS

For this game, we have a rematch from week 1 where the Colts covered the +2.5 at home against the Texans. Last week, the Texans looked abysmal in Green Bay and the box score looked a lot closer than it actually was. Stroud has not been great, but Richardson is statistically one of the worst quarterbacks in NFL history to date.

Why you should bet on the Texans:

  • Houston is 4-2 ATS in its last 6 games and 8-4 SU in its last 12 games.

  • The Texans have won four of their last five home games against AFC team

Why you should bet on the Colts:

  • Teams looking to avenge a week is 68% ATS since 1989.

  • The Colts are 6-1-0 against the spread this year.

Cowboys vs 49ers
8:20 p.m. EST NBC

The 49ers are coming off of a loss to the Cowboys and are coming off of a bye week Both of these teams need to win this game. This game could potentially decide the playoff chances for both teams.

Why you should bet on the Cowboys:

  • According to TrendsCenter, since 1989, road teams off of a 30 point + loss at home are 68% ATS since 1989. Dallas lost 47-9 against the Lions prior to the bye week.

Why you should bet on the 49ers:

  • The 49ers have won four of their last five games against the NFC East.

  • Dallas is 2-4 ATS this season.

Player Props

For player props this week, we are looking at Joe Burrow passing touchdowns. Burrow has gone over his passing touchdowns in 7 of the last 10 games. Burrow will face an Eagles secondary that is very banged up. The over 1.5 at -128 on BetOpenly has some great value. The historical trend for Burrow is here via the OddsJam App. Other trends/leagues can also be found on the OddsJam App.
